Gonzo has been adopted!!!

Posted October 20, 2009 12:49 pm

Gonzo's foster family have decided to keep him! His brudder, Moose, was recently diagnosed with Lymphoma and with a prepared loss in the future, they didn't want to suffer another by losing Gonzo too..... adoption papers were signed yesterday! We are blessed to have another one of our boys go to such as awesome loving home with the Myers. We are happy the boys will be staying together.... Gonzo serves as a great brudder to Moose and they are buddies. Speaking of buddies.... Gonzo made another close friend of the female kind:

Gonzo makes our list of TOP 10 Most Expensive Rescues. We've totaled everything up and just his vet bills alone came to $3007.00. This is excluding his food, meds, preventatives, etc. Congrats Gonzo - we are sooooooooo happy for you!

Gonzo is in limbo...

Gonzo's plans to be adopted by his foster parents have been put on hold. They are currently going thru some health concerns with their other bulldog, Moose. Gonzo is happy and content in foster care and will remain in his current foster home until he's adopted, therefore, in order to be fair to Gonzo and avoid having a healthy dog ready for adoption sitting in limbo in Adopt-A-Bull foster care, we are again accepting adoption applications on Gonzo. (Moose, you are in our prayers, buddy.)

Gonzo is soooo happy to have a forever home!

We went to visit Gonzo at the vet yesterday. He is in great spirits. He cried and whined like crazy to get out of his run.... all he wanted to do was play! He's getting treatment and meds to fight off the infection, we are hopeful he'll pull thru this. In the meantime, we miss him dearly and his foster family can't wait to get him back. Here's some pics from our visit.

The vet called this morning to say his butt is doing great! No drainage (blood or pus) at all!

Gonzo is back at the vet....

we had very slight post-op complications. At least two of his stitches were pulled out due to the infamous "sit and spin" technique. His butt is getting itchy during the healing process so he is starting to rub it against things. He's back at the vet where they put 3 staples in to seal the area closed again. The drainage from the surgery area was sent to the lab for a culture and came back positive for E. Coli and yeast which happens to be resistant against the meds he is on. Sooooooo.... now Gonzo will need a series of injections to the surgery site to control the infection. Otherwise, he's in great spirits! Still the cross eyed little goof he is. Vet says surgery site looks ok, swelling has significantly subsided so that's a positive. Gonzo will stay at the vet until his bum area is stable. Hopefully, he'll be able to come back home soon.

Gonzo - doing well!

Gonzo is doing great! What a perfect gentleman, so gentle and so obedient and well mannered. He is just a big bundle of love! (of course you already know this) His bottom continues to get better every day. Since he can't reach it to scratch, he sits on it and twirls. It is healing really well, only a few drops of blood still ouzing in the middle, but no pus. And oh does he love his squeaky toy!

Gonzo is recovery in foster care with the Myers :)

Gonzo is doing great! The right side of his wound is healing and the left side, while better, is still oozing a little blood. He is a
little itchy this morning and it is a good thing his head won't reach his butt! We are encouraged because we know that means he is
healing. He got a great nights sleep last and had a nice breakfast (meds included). Good BM this am. He doesn't seem to know he had
major surgery! What a happy, playful little guy! He spent some time with us poolside yesterday and had lots of male bonding with Chris.
He loves to "pet" us. He is back in his crate snoozing now as it Moose's turn for some loving! Will keep you posted!
