Parker Update!

Parkie is great and so are Grover and Xena. Parker just loves Xena but she thinks he is annoying (which he can be). He's just so full of himself sometimes it is so funny. If I go outside for one minute and then come back in he does his hula dance and jumps up and down as if I had been gone for a long time. He's so friendly now and runs right up to anyone. It's really hard to remember when he was so shy and scared but it feels good knowing he's happy here..

Parker is doing great in his new home! He has a pitbull mix sister and his mommie is in the process of adopting Grover too! Grover has been fostered by Parker's mommie for the past 2 months, even before Parker himself got there! It's a home with 3 precious bullies!

A note from Parker's forever home:

Parkie is better every day. He loves to run run run!! and Eat Eat Eat!! and Fart Fart Fart!! In that respect he is a real bulldog. He still has to go in his crate for the night. It seems like he gets tired and a little irritable by the end of the day, probably still stressing a little and because he tires himself running nonstop all day if I let him. His foster parents were right, he loves to retrieve balls and frisbees and plays by himself with all of the dog toys all day. We are very glad he is here!

PARKER'S ADOPTION WAS FINALIZED LAST NIGHT!!

Of course, long term foster mommy was in tears, but we are so exited for Parker! Here's a little update from new mommy Renee:

Just wanted to let you know that Parker is doing well. I got him up at 5:00 this morning and took him out to do his business, let him eat and then go back to sleep for a little bit. We just went out again and he had a good healthy BM and marked all the trees he could. Good news is he seems really comfortable with me and my husband. When he's out of the crate all he wantsto do is sit near us where we can touch him. As expected he's a little nervous about the new surroundings but already seems comfortable with his area of the house. We are keeping him in the crate when we are not in the room with him but will go in and out throughout the day and sit with him, take him outside to walk etc. I think he's going to work out really well. We'll just take it slow and easy until he gets used to our routine and to the outside area before we introduce him to Xena, Grover or the horses. I will also keep him on a leash on our property until I feel confident that he'll come back to me. I'll keep you updated. Thanks again for both Bullies!!! Have a great day. Renee

Switched from painting to golf, but I am still exhausted!

My thoughts.... (Parker speaking)

Posted July 6, 2009 1:47 pm
It all started a little over two years ago when shortly after I was born my owner decided to try and make me a fighter. So... he cut my ears and tried to persuade me to become mean. I am not mean and refused to fight. I was thrown into the ring, got bitten and still have scars but I wouldn't fight, I love everyone. So.. my owner decided to get rid of me. He traded me to another person who wanted me to fight; I wouldn't, so again I was traded. Finally, when I refused fight for these people, they dumped me in the streets of Miami. I wandered around there for several weeks seeking food and a place to sleep. Mostly I hid under the bridges adjacent to the Palmetto expressway and searched for something to eat at night. Unfortunately, I couldn't find food, lost a lot of weight, and eventually became so weak I couldn't move. A nice Miami policeman picked me up, and transferred me to the Miami Animal shelter. There they gave me some food, tried to patch me up, and put me up for adoption. Things were going fairly well but after a few days... no one wanted me. I was very sad but happy to be somewhere where they tried to help me. Several days later though, they said unless they found someone to adopt me, I would have go away to somewhere they called "Doggy Heaven". I didn't know what that meant but it didn't sound good to me. Finally, a wonderful lady known as Mommie Erica who directs a program called Adopt-A- Bull Rescue heard of me and sent for me. My luck was changing. They took me immediately to the vet and here is what Erica said about me: "After consulting with our own vets office, they were surprised he lasted as long as he had based upon his medical condition." When they weight me they said somehing about only 38 lbs. I didn't feel well, It was hard, but yes I survived.

Erica found me a wonderful new foster home where I have been living for over 6 months now. I have gained weight, gotten much braver, and learned to love life again. But for some reason, no one wanted me permanently. My foster parents love me to pieces, but they needed to help other dogs and didn't have room. But a few weeks ago a lady said she would take me permanently and let me live with her on her Horse ranch. This lady filled out all the forms and my rescue Mommie Erica and her friends, said it was okay. It sounded wonderful and I found I would be relocating in mid- July. My luck was turning. It's almost time to go to my forever home, just 2 weeks to go.... I can hardly wait!

We've been helping paint the house all day...
