My stitches came out yesterday & I'm now in my new foster home! My brother is a Victorian Bulldog and it's so much fun wrestling around with him! I also have fun playing with a couple 2-legger bullies too! I lub it here! Maybe I'll even stay forever!

Spike went to a foster home!!!

He is recovering great from surgery and is ready to go into foster care. He's so happy he can hardly contain himself as mommy gives him a bath and groom to prepare him for a new home!

Am I ready for my foster home yet, mommy?

Yea!!!!! Almost helmet free!

Mommy took my helmet off so I can breathe a little bit! She takes it off during the day when I am supervised, but at night I have to wear it cause when I get bored I mess with my eyes. My tail is doing good - mommy cleans it with raw apple cider vinegar every other day. My neck is getting better from the fungus and the more I have my helmet off, the more my neck wrinkles have time to breathe too. Mommy tells me to endure with the helmet for a few more days and then it will be gone for good and my stitches can come out!

Spike is doing well. We have to keep his party hat on 24/7 because this boy will rip the stiches right out of his eyes the minute we take it off. Because of the constant squishing together of his neck rolls while wearing the "helmet," Spike has developed a bit of an infection between his neck folds. Every day it's a fight to keep his e-collar on, when going outside to potty, Spike will purposely run into every object he can in an attempt to rip the hat off!

Mommy, please get this UFO off of my head already!!!

I got my upper lids done too!

Just when I though my recovery was almost complete, mommy puts me under the laser again for my 2nd eye procedure! Now I gotta stay in this dumb helmet thing even longer! Agggggg!!!

Operation #1 - Complete!

Posted March 26, 2008 2:41 pm

Phase 1 of my surgery is complete! I got neutered and had my lower eye lids done! Mommy stuck this party hat/helmet looking thing on my head and I think I look ridiculous! Not to mention the fact that I can't make too many friends this way...... whenever I approach one of my bullie buddies to say "hi," they always run away from me. I think they are scared of this UFO around my head :( Anyway, after I'm healed a bit, mommy says it's time for operation #2. The next surgery will be to get my upper lids done and then they may possibly operate to remove my tail. Here are some after pics of my eyes with the stitches still in them, don't forget to check out my party hat too!(As if you couldn't notice!)

I'm not sitting here looking pretty for nothing.... give me a darn cookie already and take the pic!

Welcome Spike!

Spike entered our rescue program on 3-9-08; he came to us in very bad shape. Spike is not quite ready for his forever family although he looks good in his picture, Spike will undergo a series of surgeries once he is healthy enough to be put under anesthesia. From what we understand, before making his way to Adopt-A-Bull Spike was basically confined to a crate 24 hours of the day. He had little interaction with other dogs and hardly no human contact. Spike came to us with open sores on his legs (due to confinement in a crate that was too small for him), a terrible fungus infection on his neck wrinkles, a bad ear infection and on top of it all, he was very anemic. Spike's future surgeries will include bilateral entropion surgery performed by laser (on his eyes), a tail removal & amputation, and he will be neutered. From what we have observed to date, Spike is good with other dogs, cats unknown, he is housetrained, very intolerant of heat, crate trained, and has mastered the famous bullie butt wiggle! Spike is heartworm negative, we have gotten him up to date on his vaccines, and his recovery is on-going.
