Update from Adopter

Posted April 9, 2009 11:14 am
We were told today that Prissy (formerly, Princess Fatty) has kidney disease. :-( We won't know how bad until tests come back on her urine. Hopefully, we caught it early. She will be placed on prescription dog food for kidney disease, etc. I was blown away by this and didn't expect this. She is happy, running around, eating well, etc. I was shocked. We tested her urine because we had concerns that she had a urinary infection..which she did. So, we are treating that. Her back is doing great. :-) No more yelps and she is back to her old self. It may be something that flairs up from time to time that needs Derramax to fix. The kidney thing TOTALLY threw me off guard. I didn't see that coming. We will do whatever it takes to help her. She is starting on her new prescription food for kidney disease tomorrow and we will wait to see what the lab results say about her kidneys. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it isn't too bad.

Princess got ADOPTED! :)

Our precious Princess Fatty got adopted today! Although it was very difficult to see her go, we are so happy for her. Here she is with her new Mommie getting ready to head out. (Of course Mr. Piggy is going too) We miss you and love you Princess!

More stuffie action!

Princess and I had fun playing with her stuffie today. It was the most playful she's been since she's been here. Her pics say, "I'm too sexy for my Piggy". Enjoy!

Vet Re-Evaluation...

Posted June 13, 2008 9:03 pm

Princess Fatty had her ear and urine re-evaluation this week. The GOOD news is that her ear canals are now visible and swelling has subsided. At this time she does not need surgery! They can be maintained at this point with daily cleaning. The BAD news is her urinary tract infection (UTI) has not cleared up and the previous meds seemed to have no effect. So she is on new medications for the UTI and should be free and clear in about two weeks. The GREAT news is that Fatty-Girl has lost 5 pounds since her last vet visit/weigh in. She is so much happier and much more energetic. She use to barely waddle around and now she trots around everywhere with her head up high and a smile on her face! Her foster mom said she even trots the whole way on their daily walks. Don't be fooled though... Princess still enjoys her bullie naps and will beg and beg for food. It's hard not to give in to those beautiful eyes and pink tongue sticking out!

Fat Camp for Princess....

Posted June 10, 2008 11:21 am

Princess Fatty has been trying really hard to exercise. She's been going on daily walks around her neighborhood and is on a strict diet. This means no treats Miss Fatty Girl! She protests her walks at first but eventually gets going and knows the routine. But don't try to take a longer walk past the house... she knows right where her foster mommie's house is and refuses to walk any further than that!

P.S. Tomorrow she goes back to the vet for her ear and urine re-evaluation. Wish us luck!

"Theyz wants me to goez up all deeze stairs!?!"

"Dis bewter be worth it"

"I'z almost there!" (don't worry, of course we didn't give her the snickers!)

"I'mz a Princess and dey didn't even carry mez down! I had to do it all by myswelf!"

"Awwww, fwinally break time. Wooks at me, I'z panting!"

"Your cwazy if yous think I'z doin that again!"

However, besides making monetary donations, the following list of supplies are always needed. (Donations of items or money are 100% tax deductible.)

* Malaseb pledgettes & Malaseb wipes

* Frontline Plus (45-88 lbs)

* Medium & Large Sized Harnesses

* Foldable dog crates

Piggy Pics

Here's some pics of Princess at breakfast today. I love the last one...a few hours after breakfast, we found her sleeping next to her food bowl. I'm pretty sure she was dreaming about dinner!

Princess gets a replacement stuffie!

Princess Fatty looked very uncomfortable without her stuffie.....

......so Mommie Shannon got her a new one! Nothing gets by Princess, she spotted Piggy from the other room and came running!

Princess and her stuffie.... the tragic ending :(

Posted May 21, 2008 9:59 am

Original foster mommie bought Princess a stuffie that she adored. We made it a point to tuck Princess in every night with her favorite stuffie toy, and she gladly turned stuffie into a pillow.

In my room, at the bottom of my bed , there is a king size mattress on the floor that I have made into the "bullie bed." Hubby doesn't want me putting the rescue bullies in our bed so I took a matress and designated it the bed for Mommie Erica and the bullies. Right now, Princess Fatty is the only one allowed on the special bullie bed in my room. Each night, we rotate bullies so each one has some special 1:1 time.

I'm sad to say that stuffie is no longer in existence. The rescue bullie boys snuck in and stole stuffie to play tug with. Stuffie had his head ripped off from his body and was stripped of all his fluffy stuffing.... I'm sorry Princess.....we'll get you a new stuffie.

Princess Fatty Health Update

Posted May 19, 2008 8:49 pm

Princess has been prescribed special medicated ear drops for her badly neglected ears. She will be re-evaluated after one month and at that time it will be decided whether Princess needs ear canal ablation surgery. Princess is also under evaluation for urinary incontinence only when sleeping/at rest. We know for a fact she is house trained, she goes pee and poop outside like a normal dog, but when she's sleeping she always piddles and doesn't even realize. She'll wake up all wet and there will be pee on the floor where she was resting. Here are some pics of Princess at the vet.
